England have won all nine of their Tests under Eddie Jones and the likes of Stuart Barnes believe they are more than capable of extending that this autumn.Englands rise has been impressive since those low days of the 2015 World Cup when they failed to get out of the pool stages. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) rang the changes with Jones replacing Stuart Lancaster as head coach. The nine games under Jones have seen England show some impressive attacking prowess by scoring 27 tries and racking up a total of 265 points.Compare this to the opening nine matches of Stuart Lancasters tenure in which he suffered two defeats and 68 fewer points were scored, despite scoring 24 tries during this period.Jones England statistically faced a tougher challenge at the start of his reign, facing teams with an average world ranking of sixth in comparison to eighth during Lancasters opening nine matches. While it was a relatively successful start to his career, the stats of Lancasters England during the 2015 World Cup tell a very different story. In the four matches that took place during the pool stages, where Englands opponents averaged ninth in the world rankings, England won just two of their matches scoring a tally of 133 points and 18 tries while conceding 75.However, 95 of those points and all but four of the tries came against Fiji and Uruguay, two games in which the opposition posed less of a threat. In 2016, six of Englands nine matches have taken place on the road (three during the Six Nations and three in Australia). While England conceded more points on average away from home, 24 as opposed to 14.6, their average points tally on their travels were also higher scoring on average 7.7 points more than games played at Twickenham.England are now unbeaten in 10 games in a row (they won their final World Cup pool game 60-3 against Uruguay) and are looking to go unbeaten in a calendar year for their first time in the professional era.Between 23rd March 2002 and 5th March 2004 England won 24 out of their 25 Tests, their only loss coming in a pre-World Cup friendly to France where a changed England side slipped to a 17-16 defeat in Marseille, bringing a 14 match winning run to an end.During this time they averaged 39.5 points per game, conceding 14.6 at home while away from Twickenham (including the Rugby World Cup in 2003 where games were played on neutral territory) they averaged a total of 38.2 points in their favour and just 11.8 against.England v South AfricaEngland havent beaten the Springboks since 2006, with 11 defeats and one draw occurring during that time. Can England break that spell when they face South Africa on November 12?For Allister Coetzee and South Africa, 2016 has been a year to forget. They have suffered defeat in five of their 10 matches conceding 57 more points than they scored. The summer saw the Springboks stutter past Ireland to snatch a series victory despite the visitors securing a historic opening Test win on South African soil. After sealing the victory in Cape Town, Ireland let slip a 19-3 half-time lead in the second Test in Johannesburg. Many felt their chance of joining a select band of teams to have won a series on South African soil had gone. But with a third of their first choice XV missing, Ireland rallied themselves in Port Elizabeth where they could and indeed should have won, dominating the match everywhere apart from the scoreboard. The Springboks have come under fire for their policy of allowing those who play their rugby overseas to continue to play for the national side, signalling a mass exodus out of the country, stripping South Africa of their depth and experience.Of the 31-man squad announced at the start of the 2016 Rugby Championship campaign, seven currently play their rugby abroad with a further two, Vincent Koch and Franco Mostert, heading overseas following the conclusion of the autumn tour.Stats comparing England and South Africas last five games (Not including SA v Baa-baas)England South AfricaTries175Conversions114Penalty goals1916Tackles703577Missed tackles126116Carries495412Offloads2639Penalties conceded3837Metres made18441348Defenders beaten8688Rucks won354273Rucks lost2718Scrums won2538Scrums lost33Lineouts won6459Lineouts lost32Kicks in play135135England v ArgentinaDespite their struggles on the domestic stage with the Jaguares, the Pumas shone in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, making it all the way to the semi-final stage where they came unstuck against Rugby Championship rivals Australia.Their most impressive performance came at the quarter-final stage when they dismantled Ireland with ease, recording a 43-20 victory. The story behind Englands meteoric rise under the guidance of their coach Eddie Jones. Since their inclusion in the Rugby Championship, Argentina have competed in 27 matches winning on three occasions, away against Australia in 2014 and South Africa in 2015 and 2016, once home and once away, alongside a draw with the Springboks in 2012.Argentina have recorded just one win at Twickenham against England, back in November 2006 where they ran out 18-25 victors, but Daniel Hourcades side have expanded their game since then.Argentinas forward play has a reputation for being hard-nosed and no-nonsense, an ever-present weapon in their armour providing a stern test for anyone that stands in their way and over the years have established themselves as one of the most feared scrummaging units in world rugby. However in recent years they have expanded their playing style and while the tough core of traditional Argentinian rugby remains, the 2015 World Cup displayed there is more than one way to win a rugby match and now possess some of the most potent attacking weapons in the game. Ben Morgan on the charge against Argentina in 2013 In the 2007 tournament, they scored 17 tries in reaching the semi-finals. In 2015 despite the fact that defences also have improved, they reached the same point in the tournament with 26, second only to the All Blacks and eight more than any northern hemisphere side.In their impressive quarter-final victory over Ireland, where they raced away to a 17-point lead after just 13 minutes, they made twice as many line breaks as their opponents and double the amount of metres, a stat not synonymous with a country famed for their grunt up front.England v FijiFor Fiji, a win against England is something that continues to elude them. Currently ranked 11th in the world, Fiji have faced England on six occasions, four at Twickenham and twice in the Fijian capital Suva, conceding a total of 245 points whilst scoring just 94 in total. However, the gap does appear to be closing between the sides. When the two nations met at Twickenham in November 2012, the visitors conceded 54 points including seven tries whilst scoring 12 of their own.Compare this to the 2015 World Cup where the they met the hosts in the pool stages, their defence looked more assured and limited their opponents to just 35 points, 24 more than themselves, a vast improvement on the 42 point difference the previous time they had met. However, many would argue that the 2015 met a very different side, one void of confidence and form in a World Cup that signalled disaster for England.England v AustraliaWhile England may have won their previous three matches over Australia during their series whitewash, Michael Cheikas side got the better of their fierce rivals with a comprehensive 13-33 win the last time they met at Twickenham.Out of the previous 10 encounters between the two sides, England have secured wins in seven. However, only two of these matches have taken place on home soil. Over the previous 10 meetings at the home of English rugby the scores are even, both sides securing five wins each. Mako Vunipola storms through Australias defence Australia, despite finishing second in the Rugby Championship standings, have had a below-par 2016.Since suffering their 3-0 series defeat at the hands of England they failed to make their mark against their biggest Southern hemisphere rivals, finishing a monstrous 16 points behind the All Blacks in the standings, securing just three wins in their six matches.Boasting just a 36 per cent win rate in 2016 so far, conceding 62 points more than they scored, the Wallabies will have to find some form quickly if they are to trouble England at Twickenham once again.Find out more about Hewlett Packard Enterprise data solutions.
