Retired Canterbury star Sam Perrett believes the Bulldogs can build their NRL future around under-siege halves Moses Mbye and Josh Reynolds. In the eyes of many pundits the Bulldogs underachieved in 2016, culminating in their elimination final exit to Penrith.A month ago a top four spot was a real possibility for the Dogs, now their premiership dreams are over after four successive losses.Mybe and Reynolds have copped much of the criticism for the Dogs lacklustre end to the year. But Perrett said coach Des Hasler should rebuild his side around his halves. When Moey (Mbye) and Grubby (Reynolds) are on they are the best in the competition, Perrett said. There is just that instinct, that rawness about them, and that unpredictability. When everyone is tired guys like Grubby and Moey they seem to be able to make those freakish plays. You would think they dont have that energy in them but they do those sort of things. For me it is just a matter of harnessing that strength of theirs.Critics of Haslers playing style have claimed Mbye and Reynolds havent been able to take ownership of the team because the Dogs forwards, in particular skipper James Graham, are asked to play first receiver so often.Perrett said Hasler would look to shake-up the Bulldogs ahead of next season. The wheels are always spinning for Dessie, he is always trying to figure out what is going on, how do we get better, Perrett said.At the end of the day what we did this year wasnt good enough, he will be looking at things and how to fix them. There will be changes.Canterburys NSW back-rower Josh Jackson said fault for the Dogs inconsistent season didnt lie with Hasler.I havent been to another club but I cant imagine there are too many coaches who do as much work as Des does, Jackson saidYou never see him turn up in the morning. He is the first one there and the last one to leave.I dont think there is any player unhappy with Des at all.In the past few weeks it is individual errors that have cruelled us and we have to fix that up next year.
