CLEVELAND -- An early scuffle in Sundays contest between the?Dallas Cowboys?and the?Cleveland Browns?resulted in the ejection of an Erving and an Irving.Browns center Cam Erving and Cowboys defensive end David Irving both were ejected after they scuffled following an incompletion by Browns quarterback?Cody Kessler?with 12 minutes, 44 seconds left in the first quarter.Replays showed Irving did not have a helmet; it appeared that Erving ripped off the helmet and threw it at the Dallas end, who retaliated. Both players were penalized.Browns tackle Joe Thomas likened the scuffle to that of a UFC fight. After the play was over, I heard whistles and turned around and saw that the guy was on top of Cam punching him in the face. It looked like a UFC fight. So I tried to run over there to split it up so that Cam didnt retaliate, thinking that obviously the guy on top was going to get ejected but as long as Cam didnt retaliate he wasnt going to get ejected. Obviously they both got ejected.?Referee Jeff Triplette ejected the players. His crew has ejected five players this season. The rest of the NFL officiating crews have ejected four players.?The league has now more than doubled its total number of four ejections for the 2015 season and remains on pace for at least a 15-year high in that category. The highest number of ejections in a season is 13 from 2001, which is the furthest back the ESPN Stats & Information database goes.?The pair of ejections had a bigger impact on the Browns, and coach Hue Jackson gave his take on the scuffle at the conclusion of the game.Disappointing. Obviously, you cant throw the helmet. There is a chance Cam would have probably stayed out there if he did not throw the helmet. He has to keep his poise. That is one thing I talked to him about when he came over. Let us not retaliate because somebody is doing something. You have to be smart enough to hold your cool, because it hurts our football team. We cant afford to lose a guy that is a starter.Erving is the Browns starting center on a line that has dealt with injuries all season. Left guard Joel Bitonio is out for the season after surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his foot. Erving missed three games with a bruised lung, and one of his replacements,?Austin Reiter, tore a knee ligament.Irving is a backup defensive end. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after the Cowboys Oct. 16 victory over the Green Bay Packers with three forced fumbles.John Greco moved from right guard to center to replace Erving, with rookie Spencer Drango taking over at left guard and Alvin Bailey moving from left to right guard.Kevin Seifert and Todd Archer contributed to this report. On Tuesday,?the camps pulled the plug on any hope of the fight to take place on the planned date of Dec. 10.While they still hope to make a deal for the bout to be in early 2017, the absence of it on Dec. 10 left a gaping hole in HBOs fourth-quarter schedule, but it is one that unified junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford is all too happy to fill.Once Golovkin-Jacobs was off the networks schedule, HBO was suddenly left with an available date and a seven-figure chunk of money that had been earmarked for the card. Crawford, who had wanted to fight three times this year, was scheduled for?only two bouts because there were no available HBO dates or money left. Now he is likely to get his third bout of 2016.Plans quickly went into motion once GGG-Jacobs was a no-go.?Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN on Thursday that he and HBO are working to put together a Crawford fight to take place Dec. 10.Were hoping to get it done and hoping to get a good opponent, Arum said. Were working on Dec. 10 for Crawford, but we and HBO only want to do it if its a significant fight.Arum did not want to dive into the?details on the opponent because there is no deal yet. Its typical for promoters to keep their desired opponent under wraps, because?once the details are out, suddenly their price goes up when the opponent hears they are being considered.Crawfords team and HBO would likely accept world titleholder Eduard Troyanovsky (25-0, 22 KOs), 36, of Russia, or Antonio Orozco (25-0, 16 KOs), 28, of San Diego. Orozco is one of Crawfords mandatory challengers and has previously appeared on HBO.We had a date on HBO in January, and they asked us if Crawford could move to December once they lost the Golovkin fight, and Crawford was OK with that, Arum said.dddddddddddd.Arum said he hopes to put on the fight at the CenturyLink Center in Crawfords hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. The arena is already booked with a Creighton University mens basketball game on Dec. 10, but Arum said he is talking to the school about possibly moving the game to the following day in order to accommodate the fight.Well see what happens. Were talking to them about trying to clear the date, Arum said. If they cant do it, well have to look to see where else we can go, but Terence is a great draw in Omaha. The 29-year-old Crawford (29-0, 20 KOs), who was the 2014 fighter of the year, vacated his lightweight world title in 2015 and moved up to junior welterweight. He knocked out Thomas Dulorme in the sixth round to win a vacant title.Crawford has defended the title three times, including a dominant decision victory against Viktor Postol on July 23 in Las Vegas to unify two belts in fight between the boxers widely considered Nos. 1 and 2 in the weight division. There was disappointment in the Crawford camp when it seemed as though he would not fight again this year, but now there is excitement for the potential Dec. 10 bout, according to Cameron Dunkin, Crawfords co-manager.He wants to fight, Dunkin said. He down (in San Juan, Puerto Rico) for the WBO convention and he ran into (Top Rank vice president) Carl Moretti and said he is ready to go. So he wants to fight. Right now its about getting an opponent and working out the money with everyone. Terence has never been a guy who doesnt want to fight. ' ' '
