The Carolina Panthers make their first trip to the West Coast this season when they oppose the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX).The Panthers (2-5) are winless on the road in 2016. The good news is both of their victories came against NFC West teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams (3-4) are coming off a Week 8 bye, and they hope the break will get the team back on the winning track. Los Angeles lost its past three games.Rams coach Jeff Fisher isnt focusing on the Panthers disappointing record, instead looking at Carolinas 30-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals last week.We got a challenge, he said. This is a good football team. Its hard to look at the tape and see that they only won two games, but its a good football team. We get a sense for watching them match up against Arizona, because we know Arizona very well, and its a dominating game. It was a great effort by them, and a much needed win for them. Both teams enter the game with issues at the quarterback position. The Rams drafted Jared Goff as the No. 1 overall selection in the 2016 draft to be the franchise quarterback. The rookie has yet to see the field despite starter Case Keenums recent struggles. The national media and local Los Angeles pundits are calling for Goff to start playing, but Fisher continues to start and defend Keenum even though Keenum is second in the NFL with 10 interceptions. The Panthers do not have issues with the play of quarterback Cam Newton, but they do have problems with how the NFL and referees treat the reigning NFL MVP. Newton is constantly taking hits to the head and legs this season that should have resulted in penalties but did not. Coach Ron Rivera did not mince words when discussing his frustrations. Its more about making sure he is getting the equal treatment and the protection he deserves as a quarterback in the pocket, Rivera said. I have reached out to the league, and the league has responded. And most recently I have reached out to the commissioner, and he has responded, and well continue to work through this and see how it goes. This is something I work on every week, quite frankly. The defending NFC champions need to get tight end Greg Olsen involved against a Rams secondary struggles at times matching up with quality tight ends.Olsen is coming off one of the worst pass-catching performances of his career. He had only one catch against the Cardinals, so the Pro Bowler will be looking to get untracked. He and the Panthers offense will go after a Los Angeles pass defense that has been poor in the red zone. The Rams have allowed 11 passing touchdowns this season.Yeah, our efficiency in the red zone is not good, Fisher said. Were giving up too many touchdowns. Last year, we mightve been second, and this year, were not there. Granted, I dont like to say weve been without with three or four starters, we dont have (cornerback) Trumaine (Johnson) and stuff like that, but we have to get back to, if they get down there, No. 1, we got to get back to holding them to field goals, to give us a chance. The Panthers rushing attack is ranked in the top five of the NFL. The return of running back Jonathan Stewart last week after he missed three games with a hamstring injury should continue to bolster the ground game. The Rams defensive front, led by defensive tackle Aaron Donald, only allows opponents 3.9 yards an attempt. If the Rams front seven defenders can stop Stewart early, Los Angeles can make the Panthers offense one-dimensional.The Rams ground game was supposed to be a strength this season, but running back Todd Gurley has looked pedestrian. Some of that falls on Gurley, who is averaging only 3 yards a carry, but a large part of the blame belongs to the offensive line. Against a Carolina defense that is ranked third in the NFL, things so not look any brighter. Were protecting a lot better in the pass game, but in the run game, were lacking, Rams left tackle Greg Robinson said. We need to get that going. I feel like Todd is at the line and the holes just close. I cant really explain it.Wholesale NCAA Jerseys China . Lady Volunteers coach Holly Warlick said Cooper injured her left knee while playing basketball at home. That leaves Tennessee with only nine healthy scholarship players. Cooper made 15 starts as a freshman last season and averaged 8.6 points and 2.1 assists. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring. Its the card weve been dealt and weve got to go with it, Warlick said. The kids that we have, theyre solid. If we didnt have the summer weve had, Id be worried. But we have put in the time, theyve put in the effort and it shows. It really, really shows. I feel really confident in what our kids can do.Warlick said sophomore guard/forward Meme Jackson has undergone arthroscopic surgery on her left knee and is expected to be ready for the start of preseason practice.Tennessee also announced Wednesday the hiring of Heather Ervin as director of recruiting operations and player personnel. Sharrona Reaves was hired as the Lady Vols assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in April, replacing former Tennessee player Kyra Elzy, who spent four seasons as an assistant and associate head coach. Elzy was rehired by Kentucky this spring. The Lady Vols went 22-14 last season and set a school record for losses. They recovered down the stretch to reach a regional final for the fifth time in the last six years.Recruiting troubles in the past year prevented the Lady Vols from upgrading their roster much since the end of the 2015-116 season.dddddddddddd Their additions were freshman shot-blocking specialist Kamera Harris, Winthrop graduate transfer Schaquilla Nunn and ASA College transfer Cheridene Green, who wont play in the 2016-17 season as she recovers from knee surgery.Carter made 82 career starts at Tennessee and posted career averages of 6.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Last season, the 5-foot-9 guard made 25 starts and had 4.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists while averaging 26.2 minutes.Carter underwent season-ending shoulder surgery during the 2012-13 season and was redshirted. After loving the game so much for so long, it is hard to imagine forgoing an opportunity to play for one more year, Carter said. Yet, the past four years have taken a toll on my body that I can no longer ignore. The injuries that I once effortlessly pushed aside and played through are beginning to catch up to me and have long-term effects.Warlick said Carter also had been dealing with a knee problem. We discussed only practicing twice a week or only playing in games, but anyone who knows me knows those options were unacceptable to me, Carter said. If I was going to continue playing basketball, I wanted to practice, condition, lift weights, be with my teammates and be able to work as hard as I could to get better every single day.Carter graduated in August 2015 with a degree in communication studies and will remain in school this year working toward her masters degree in sport psychology. Warlick called Carter a great ambassador to this program. The Lady Vols open the 2016-17 season Nov. 11 at James Madison. ' ' '
