FCS Playoffs Second RoundThe Matchup -- Villanova (9-3) at No. 8 seed South Dakota State (8-3)Kickoff -- 3 p.m. ET at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium (19,360) in Brookings, South DakotaCoverage -- ESPN3Series -- First meetingPlayers to Watch -- Villanova: QB Zach Bednarczyk (158 of 261, 1,938 yards, 18 TDs, 10 INTs; 114 carries, 510 yards, 2 TDs), DE Tanoh Kpassagnon (45 TT, 21.5 TFL, 11 sacks), S Rob Rolle (61 TT, 7 INTs, 5 PBU); South Dakota State: QB Taryn Christion (246 of 384, 3,369 yards, 29 TDs, 8 INTs), WR Jake Wieneke (70 receptions, 1,204 yards, 16 TDs), TE Dallas Goedert (78 receptions, 1,146 yards, 10 TDs)The Skinny -- Villanova again seeks to extend coach Andy Talleys 32nd and final season with the Wildcats, who tied for second place in CAA Football. Last weeks 31-21 win over Saint Francis in the first round defined the Wildcats style -- a good mix of the run and pass to control game clock and an aggressive defense that kept sending the opposing offense to the sideline. Kpassagnon, fellow DE Bryan Osei and LB Jeff Steeb combined for six sacks in the win. Villanova has held seven of its 12 opponents under 300 yards. The offense has three players over 500 rushing yards (Aaron Forbes, Javon White and Bednarczyk) yet Matt Gudzak (447 yards) may be their go-to back at this point. The lefty Bednarczyk has a strong arm, even better than 2014 Walter Payton Award winner John Robertson, according to Talley. South Dakota States trio of Christion (Missouri Valley Football Conference offensive player of the year), Goedert and Wieneke have been unstoppable in the No. 8 passing offense in the FCS (314.4 ypg), although a cold day in Brookings may dictate the Jackrabbits getting production from leading rusher Brady Mengarelli (700 yards, 3 TDs). The defense is strong up the middle and features leading tacklers Christian Rozeboom (107 TT) and Jesse Bobbit (95 TT) at linebacker. The Jackrabbits have their own venerable coach, John Stiegelmeier, in his 20th season. This is their first season playing at Dykhouse Stadium.Up Next -- The winner will play either San Diego (10-1) or No. 1 seed North Dakota State (10-1) in the quarterfinals Dec. 9 or 10.Prediction -- While Villanovas defense is playing at a high level, the Wildcats offense will not keep up enough with the Jackrabbits. NMD Rea . The Swede became the first golfer to win the PGA Tours FedEx Cup and European Tours Race to Dubai in the same season. "It is still taking a little time to sink in what Ive achieved this week as was the case when I won the FedEx Cup but then it just kept getting better and better as the days went on and I am sure this will be the same," he said. Adidas Stan Smith Dam Rea . Neymar curled home a free kick from just outside the area to put the 2014 World Cup host ahead in the 44th minute. Three minutes after the break, a simple through pass from Paulinho freed Oscar and the Chelsea star rounded goalkeeper Jung Sung-ryong to extend Brazils lead. The right-hand injury that Jorge Linares suffered during the sixth round of his lightweight title-winning victory against Anthony Crolla on Sept. 24 will keep him out of the ring for an extended time, which led the WBC on Thursday to rule that its titleholder, Dejan Zlaticanin, would be allowed to have an optional defense before having to face Linares in a mandatory bout.Venezuelas Linares won the WBA version of the 135-pound world title by unanimous decision against Crolla in his hometown of Manchester, England, but he entered the bout also as the WBCs titleholder in recess, because he had been out of action for 11 months because of a previous right hand injury and stripped of the full belt. That allowed Zlaticanin, who was supposed to fight Linares in April, to win the vacant title by third-round knockout of Franklin Mamani on June 11.Linares injured his right hand in the sixth round of the ferocious battle versus Anthony Crolla, and after analyzing the situation and confirming with Dr. Jedediah Jones, it has been concluded that Linares will not be able to fight for some time, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said on Thursday. The WBC is hereby confirming that Dejan Zlaticanin is free to make a voluntary title defense of his WBC lightweight title.Sulaiman said the organization will review the lightweight division mandatory situation, as well as the other weight classes, during its annual convention, which is scheduled to take place in December in Hollywood, Florida.ddddddddddddGolden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz, who is close to the 31-year-old Linares (41-3, 27 KOs) and accompanied him to Manchester, said he would be sidelined for six or seven weeks but that there was no break or fracture in Linares hand. Its still swollen, but thankfully there is no break, Diaz said. Linares injury is in a different spot on his right hand than the previous one that led to the 11-month layoff, Diaz said.Whether Linares eventually faces Zlaticanin (22-0, 15 KOs), a 32-year-old southpaw and first world titleholder from Montenegro, upon his return is up in the air because Crolla (31-5-3, 13 KOs), 29, has the contractual option for a rematch in his next fight if he wants one. Diaz said he would soon be in touch with Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn to see what they have decided about doing a rematch.Right after the fight Eddie and Crolla were saying they want the rematch next but a couple of weeks have passed, and sometimes things change, Diaz said. So next week Ill send Eddie an email and see what they want to do and get it in writing. The most important thing is to see when Linares hand is ready to go. If Eddie and Crolla want the rematch, Jorge will be available for it. ' ' '
